Sermon Preview and Playlist: “The Cost of Disciple Making”

Jesus has inspired us with his teaching and works. He has instructed us concerning the inevitably of hard ground but also good soil that bears incredible fruit. We have a promising mission. But there is another point to make concerning our call to discipleship and disciple making: the cost. Mark will get this across to us in a way that is both round-about and straightforward. We cannot afford to miss the cost of discipleship. Read Mark 6:7–30 and join us this Sunday. The livestream link will be posted on the Heritage Resume page. Listen ahead with our Sunday at Heritage Spotify Playlist.

Help us make Sunday safe and simple. If your intentions have changed from last week, please tell us your plans so we can prepare accordingly. If your plans haven’t changed from last week, no need to let us know. Visit Heritage Resume for a summary of what to expect, and Trent’s blog, “Together Again, this Sunday: Why and How,” for a fuller explanation.

Each week we will ask one or two Elder Communities to serve the broader church by planning to join us in overflow in the Fellowship Hall. For Sunday, June 14: Elder Community: Travis Fleshman; Shepherding Groups: Aaron Bednarski, Kevin Delp, Tom Mackintosh. Those who sit in the Fellowship Hall should leave four seats between groups to maintain social distancing.

During the pandemic, we understand that not everyone can or should join us on site. If you are at high-risk of infection or sick, for example, please plan to stay home. We are glad to offer a livestream during this time and hope that you are encouraged by the Word.

Hour of Prayer: June 18, 7:00 PM

Join us via Zoom next Thursday at 7:00 p.m. for prayer and encouragement with your brothers and sisters. This opportunity is a great blessing and encouragement while things are still not as they used to be. Look for an email next Thursday morning with a link.

Dear Father, A man died on the street in Minneapolis under the knee of a police officer and we saw it with our eyes. Our nation is in turmoil and our cities are on fire. Oh Lord, there are many emotions we should feel right now: sadness, anger, and grief. There are many things we should pray for this morning—for your justice, your peace, and your healing. There are also many people we should pray for. . . . Keep Reading
