MEMBERS’ VOTE RESULTS
We have great news! On Sunday, March 5, 2017, the Members of Heritage Bible Church voted to call Trent Hunter to serve as their next Pastor for Preaching and Teaching. Trent joyfully accepted the call! We look forward to having Trent with us Easter weekend to preach our Good Friday and Resurrection Morning Worship Service. The Hunters plan to move to the Greenville area near the end of May and Trent will begin preaching the Word at Heritage in June.
As part of our morning worship service on Sunday, April 23, we will travel with Tim Keesee as Dispatches from the Front, Episode 10, takes us to the Middle East. “He is risen!”—three words that change everything. This wonderfully good news that was first announced to the women at the Empty Tomb is still being declared boldly in the Middle East by the Risen King’s messengers! Dispatches from the Front goes into this region of centuries-old darkness and division that is now overshadowed by the fierce violence of ISIS terror. Yet, the Gospel is powerfully at work in the Middle East, and Christ is building His Church there just as He said He would. Neither the gates of hell nor the gates of Islam can withstand the work of our Risen King! From mega-cities in Arabia to refugee camps left in the wake of ISIS terror, The Fourth Man goes beyond the headlines to showcase the Gospel’s power to save, the mercy and love of believers, and their abiding joy as Christ walks through the fires of persecution with them.
Our worship service April 23 begins at 9:30 with singing, Scriptures, and prayers as we do each week. Around 10:00 we will take a brief break to prepare for the showing of The Fourth Man. The second portion of our service will take us to around 11:40.
Pastor Stratton will hold a baptism class on Sunday, April 30, at 11:00 a.m., in the Conference Room for anyone interested in pursuing baptism. A baptism study sheet is available at the Welcome Center and on the resources page of our website for those interested in learning more about baptism.
PICTORIAL DIRECTORY UPDATE
We have reserved two upcoming Sundays to take updated or new pictures for our online pictorial directory. April 30 and May 7 we will take pictures during the 11:00 hour; there are no Electives on those days. Some of the pictures in our directory will be four years old this summer, and if you have children, you probably need an updated picture. Some of you have never been photographed, and we want to include you in the directory, too! Whatever your situation, please select April 30 or May 7 and plan to help us update this great tool for getting to know one another. As a bonus, a very helpful app is available only to those who are pictured in the directory.
OPERATION ARCTIC: NEIGHBORHOOD BIBLE DAY CAMP (JUNE 26-29):
Pre-registration is taking place for this summer’s Operation Arctic! Register children who are currently in 1st-5th grades on the HBC website by April 30 for the early bird discount. Sign up in the North Lobby to volunteer for this cool event. Please pray that the Lord will use this to reach many kids and adults in our community.
Our nursery is a vital part of the ministry at Heritage, and we are extremely grateful for the hundreds of people who volunteer to serve and care for the little souls that come through the nursery doors each week. But, because we have so many children, we always have a need for additional volunteers. Currently we have multiple openings for each service. Volunteers normally serve just one service per month. Please contact Barb Illsley to volunteer to serve our children or to get more information on the opportunity.
CHILDREN’S WING RESTROOM
For organizational and safety purposes, the Children’s Wing restrooms will be reserved for children only on Sunday mornings.
SUNDAY EVENING SCHEDULE REMINDER
Shepherding Groups meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday evenings, and we have Evening Prayer on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. These are vital opportunities in the life of the church. Don’t miss out on the relationships and encouragement that come through these times.
Only contributions received through our numbered offering envelope system or online are posted to church records. If you are not presently on the envelope system but would like to be, please contact the church office.
You can give your gifts and offerings to Heritage Bible Church online, if you so choose. We want giving at Heritage to be simple, habitual, and cheerful for our entire church family. We will still take an offering during the worship services, we will still have offering envelopes, and the offering boxes will remain in the lobby. But for some time now a number of you have asked for the option of online giving, and we are happy to provide that for you.
Giving online is easy and allows you to set up automatic recurring contributions and view your complete online giving history from anywhere you have access to the Internet. Simply follow these easy steps:
- Click on the Online Giving in the top right corner of this page
- Click on the Create Profile button, then
- Follow the onscreen instructions to create an online profile and to schedule your recurring contributions.
A Frequently Asked Questions document will answer some of the questions you may have. Thank you for your ongoing financial support of Heritage Bible Church!
All regular attenders of HBC who are permanent residents in the Greenville area are encouraged to be included in the HBC database with accurate information. If you are new to Heritage and now consider this your church home or if your contact information has changed, please print and fill out an information form or complete a green information form found in the lobbies. You can turn in your form through an offering box or plate next time you attend. We desire to have all regular attenders included in our database.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Heritage Bible Church, please pick up a packet of information at the Welcome Center, complete the application, and return it through the offering or at the Welcome Center. Participation in the Membership Matters class is also a part of the membership process.
